Fabulous balloon sculptures bring so much delight to an event, they’re particularly adored by children.
We have to be a bit careful around copyright issues so you may see them referred to as “ice princess” for example!
Happy Birthday if it’s yours today, just been or coming up soon!
Approximately 170 balloons were used to make this cupcake balloon sculpture and some time.
This has been my big practice project this week working with a method to make the round layers, a technique I’ve only used once before when making the handles for balloon scissors for Ambiance Salons.
There’s no frame in this cupcake, it’s all held together with ribbon.
My next project is going to be something much smaller but equally creative!
We loved taking part in One Million Bubbles today, read the press release below for more information:
Nothing brings smiles to people’s faces like balloons do, and the professional balloon decorating and entertainment industry wants to help people find their smiles and joy during this challenging and frightening time we have entered.
On Thursday, March 26, 2020, over 200 balloon artists from around the world are going to participate in “One Million Bubbles of Joy”. The intent is for the professional balloon industry to share their talents and skills that day to help bring happiness to as many lives as they can and remind the world that there is hope and kindness still out there as they face the new realities of COVID-19.
“With all the fear and uncertainty going on in the world right now, I felt like we had to do something,” said Steven Jones, project leader of Balloon Designers in Seattle, Washington. “Balloons make people happy in ways nothing else does, so if working balloon professionals cannot make people smile right now, who really can?”
Artists will be participating in a variety of ways:
Balloon professionals are encouraged to create something artsy and fun either in their yards at home or in a public place, but convey the message of “Be Safe Be Kind”.
Other artists working from home will be broadcasting live on social media conducting live Q&A sessions as they create fun pieces; this will be an excellent opportunity for children stuck at home to learn from these talented and experienced professionals in a unique way like never before.
Because of the #StayHome campaign currently going on, our artists are encouraged not to further complicate the possible spread of COVID-19 by making deliveries to locations other than their homes, places of business or permitted public spaces.
It is our hope that when this is all over, over one million balloons will be used to create ten times as smiles during this scary time for so many around the world.
It’s a crazy busy day! We’ve just delivered this personalised hoop for Mermaid mad Millie for her 5th birthday party at home…she loved it!
Thank you to Paper Anchor Designs for cleaning the photo up for us!
A cheeky monkey with a stuffed belly for a young gentleman’s birthday! Holding a helium filled balloon, he brought a big smile.
We added to the Christmas decor at Signature Financial Services with some jumbo balloon snowflakes, personalised baubles, a candy cane and Christmas gifts.
These are all air filled items which should last longer than helium filled. The great thing about the Signature Financial Services office from a balloon decor point of view is they have a suspended ceiling so balloons can be attached to it with magnets causing no damage to paint and plasterwork.
I do love making these, they are so cute!
Two balloon babies went off the Bulls Head in Alton for a baby shower and each holding three helium filled balloons. These are great party and venue decor, a real talking point.
A setup in pink for this baby shower at Albert’s Corner in Crewe with a pink bear as the centrepiece and some helium filled table bouquets.
Great to see my International Balloon Month #LiftUpSomebody get featured in the Stoke Sentinel.
The second #SmileySam in September sat quietly in the corner of the NetworkIn meeting this morning and then our winner, Josie, presented him to Josh as a thank you for making her feel so welcome and and for sorting out his mortgage with her. There were lots of smiles all round, job done! #LiftUpSomebody
We took the opportunity to dress an empty room for Halloween!
With trademarks and the like we have to be a little bit careful.
This birthday party had a stacked number extravaganza 3 decorated with Frozen orbs showing Elsa and Anna and then a mini Olaf snowman on the opposite shoulder. I only had about 20 minutes to unload and put everything in place so a struggle to snap some good photos so apologies for the quality of these!
It was family fun day at Cronkinson’s Farm in Stapeley near Nantwich today so I decorated my stall in a pirate theme. with a large character, a column, a bubble and a ship at sea.
Kitty’s birthday party was bright and early and princess themed, they will be eternally popular!
This ice princess popped up in a lot of the photos along with a supershape Belle from Beauty of the Beast and some helium balloon table bouquets for delivery to Stapeley, Cheshire.
I built this balloon kit today for a mermaid tail that I saw online. I was curious how it would go together because for less than £15 I can understand why you would be tempted.
I don’t love the finished result, I’d give it a 5.5 out of 10, it’s ok but not to my usual standard. The thing I want to tell you about these kits is there’s no instructions, the first picture shows what’s in the bag. I’ve no idea what the funny plastic tabs or balloon glue are for, not something I’ve ever used before.
The balloons are thin, two of them had holes in, one of them had a damaged neck. I wanted another 18 to 24 balloons to be able to taper the top in better to the tail fins.
This took me a little over an hour to build using an electric balloon inflater which sizes the balloons for me so I get a uniform look. If you’re blowing them up using your mouth or a hand pump it’s going to take a lot longer and then you’ve got to figure out how to size and then fasten them together.
You’re not paying a balloon stylist for the balloons but the time and investment that has gone in to learning these skills.
Since I started, less than a year ago, I’ve been on a dozen different training courses and activities and I’ll continue to keep learning so I’m delivering balloons that you’re delighted with having avoided the worry of trying to figure out how some instructionless kit goes together spending hours on the job!
I have rebuilt this, see below so you can get a better idea of what it should look like .
Sam and Terry got married on Saturday and we did the balloons!
A great setup with a bride and groom sculpture, a single pearl arch with customised heart centrepiece over the top table and then bouquets as table centrepieces in the silver and royal blue theme.
The photos were snapped while the venue was still being setup!
What was even more amazing was when I went back the following day the bride balloon was in almost perfect condition.
Sarah’s baby shower at the beautiful Upper House at Barlaston has been decorated with a personalised backdrop wrapped in a pink balloon garland and then mini baby balloon sculptures for table centrepieces. Each of the centrepieces holds a customised balloon with the event details on. Very pretty and cute look!
This little character with his balloon went off to a birthday party today. His belly has little balloons in but there is space in these to put a small gift or stuffed toy.
We’ve launched our Easter bunnies today which have stuffed bellies! Get in touch to get yours ordered up! They start from £12 with various sweets and chocolates inside or a cuddly toy.
We donated the models to the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity raffle.
After Blackpool Balloon Bash I’ve been inspired to twist some more balloons. I’m not sure my unicorn is going to win any prizes!
It’s been one helluva practice #balloontwisting session for an amateur like me. What would have taken other people ten minutes has taken me hours! Faces still to be drawn in and might add some stubble to the groom as he looks a bit effeminate with that hair but kind of pleased with them for a novice
While having a few days away in the New Forest I’ve been on this course today, so many great new designs learned and excited to get started making bubble balloons.
No prizes for guessing what song has been stuck going through my head this morning! This ice princess is unsurprisingly off to a Frozen theme party for Maisie. Have a lovely birthday
I’ve had some lovely feedback from this year’s Valentine’s balloons.
It is #ChineseNewYear and #YearOfThePig. From chinesenewyear.net, people born in the year of the pig think logically and are able to fix whatever problem they’re in. They aren’t good communicators, but they’re kind and able to provide for the family. Most of them are wealthy. Their only obvious fault is that they lose their temper easily.
It’s been a fun afternoon with Jemma Hancock Photography shooting my designs for Valentine’s Day 2019.
The Santa Dash in Nantwich has happened for a few years now raising funds for the Merry Mile. I’ve been delighted to be asked to do an arch for the finish line.
With a Snowman on one side and Santa on the other and then a classic arch in green and white joining the two sections it was very festive.
(Edit: I’ve returned to this on 12/08/2019 and I can see so much room for improvement and the 2019 one will be awesome!).
I put my twisting skills to the test to take part in the Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity Trust Merry Mile in Queen’s Park, Crewe.
David’s wings were in Chrome Blue and mine in Chrome Silver, I surprised myself with how well these turned out!
It’s been a great opportunity to make this Santa for the village school in Wybunbury. We smuggled him into the head teacher’s office before he is added to their Christmas display tomorrow in preparation for a visit from actual Santa
I left some of my cards with the school office if you’re looking for any kind of balloon decorations or gifts – get in touch and we can have a chat about what you’re looking for.
Some decorations were made for the local pub.
